Bevandale Holsteins was established in 1976 but the Bevan family came to the Ravenshoe area in 1910, and to celerbrate 100 years of dairying in Paradise we are planning for a sale on the 22nd of September 2010, so make plans now to attend. A youth camp is scheduled also with a calf day to conclude.

Over the years we have aquired a number of internationally renowned families, like the Megs, Showers, Mollyjeans, Images, Dixies, Dawns, Sallys, Myras, Tonis and Showgirls. Construction of a new feed pad was recently completed, it will hold around 260 head. We are currently only feeding rhodes grass and wheat hay with a bit of Mollasis water and Cracked corn and minerals. Silage will be availible by mid 2010, silage pits are currently being completed. A Keenan mixer and a new tractor were also required to complete the package.

All the calves are housed in individual above ground pens, being fed 4 litres a day. They stay there for 2 months, then are moved outside to paddocks with self locking head stalls with access to hay and fed milk for another month. The elite calves are continued to be fed milk for an extra month to encourage furthur growth. The calves are housed in these paddocks with the head stalls for the first 6-8 months of their lives (depending on availible room). They are then transferred to a dry block across the road where they are kept up until calving.

The 15 aside double up dairy was completed in March 2007, fitted out with Dairy King Stall gates, Automatic cup removers, and auto draft. Totally computerised, cows are recorded every time they come in the dairy and are fed accordingly, all cows in the first 60 days of lactation are fed a set amount.
